The Importance of Volunteering
 |
 |
A lot of people
have the wrong idea of what it means
to be a “Minister”…and maybe you do
too. Ministry is simply this… Using
your individual gifts to meet
someone else’s personal need, and
doing it in the name of Christ. In
fact, when you go back to the New
Testament and study the beginning of
the local church, you will discover
the same paradigm. In Acts 6, we
read how the Apostles who led the
church selected a team of people to
take care of a specific ministry
opportunity in the church - feeding
the widows and their children.
That's the way a church has to
function. The pastors lead the
church by preaching, teaching and
casting the vision. The members of
the local church take on the
responsibility of day-to-day
ministry. At CrossRoads, our
pastoral staff depends on myriad
individuals, as well as ministry
teams to provide help in numerous
avenues of ministry and outreach. |
We thank God every day for the many
volunteers who are key to CrossRoads
Fellowship’s weekly success, as well as the
success of its future. If you're not serving
in an area of ministry, or maybe are just
interested in learning more our volunteer
program, below you will find a list of
current personal ministry opportunities.
These opportunities are grouped into six
basic categories:
Support,
Programming,
Service,
Worship Arts,
Teaching,
and
Community. Please take a few
minutes to look over the list, and feel free
to give us a call if you have any questions
regarding a particular area of ministry. If
you are interested in taking the first step
towards the awesome privilege of personal
service fill out the
information request form, and hit
“Send”.
If you are unsure about serving in a
particular area, or would like to consider
other ministry opportunities, that’s great,
in fact we encourage it. Feel free to take
any ministry for a
“30 Day Test Drive” and see if it fits
your gifts and shape. We at CrossRoads
understand the need to be used, but also the
importance of doing something that fits who
you are. Our desire is that every believer
realizes their responsibility to
“serve the Lord with gladness”,
and not out of obligation. So please take
your time, but do take a look…purpose is
waiting for you.
“…we will give ourselves
continually to prayer and to the ministry of
the word.” Acts 6:4
